About Me

Overview

I am an award-winning teacher and teaching scholar with over 20 years of experience designing and leading innovative programs that empower learners. My expertise bridges higher education and corporate learning and development (L&D), where I create courses, workshops, and large-scale initiatives that integrate career literacies—digital, collaborative, creative, and communicative—with critical thinking and applied problem-solving rooted in humanist values.

In my roles at Indiana University, I have

  • Taught in-person, hybrid, and online courses in the undergraduate and MBA / graduate programs in both the Kelley School of Business and the College of Arts & Sciences.

  • Led faculty and instructor professional development programs focused on digitally-informed active learning methods, curriculum design, and pedagogical / andragogical best practices.

  • Directed IU Bloomington’s campus-wide undergraduate writing program (2019–2024) and IU’s system-wide Mosaic Faculty Institute for Active Learning (2023–2024).

At the core of my praxis is a passion for building carefully scaffolded learning experiences that cultivate acute critical thinkers, communicators, and digital citizens with confidence and rhetorical agility
— Miranda Rodak

Teaching

As a teacher, my cross-disciplinary portfolio includes courses in Business Communications, Professional Skills, Liberal Arts & Management, Literature, Rhetoric, and Writing. Across the board, my teaching and facilitation emphasize metacognitive, self-directed learning that fuses career literacies with critical thinking to foster a resilient growth mindset that equips learners to thrive in today’s rapidly evolving landscape. At the core of my praxis is a passion for building carefully scaffolded learning experiences that cultivate acute critical thinkers, communicators, and digital citizens with the confidence and rhetorical agility necessary to share their uniquely human voices toward solving complex problems in our dynamic and deeply multimodal world.

Program Design & Leadership

My administrative experience outside the classroom has encompassed a wide range of enterprise-level leadership tasks, including hiring, staffing, and training, budgeting and resource allocation, compliance oversight, course and instructor scheduling, and cross-departmental collaboration.

Through this work, I have collaborated with key stakeholders all across IU, including the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL), the Center of Excellence for Women in Technology (CEWIT), the Office of the Vice Provost of Undergraduate Education, the College Office of Enrollment Management, Undergraduate Academic Advising & Support, the Office of Student Life, the Conrad Prebys Career Services Center, the Walter Center for Career Achievement, and the Groups Scholars Program, which supports IU’s first-generation students and 21st-Century Scholars.

Publishing

From the “lab” of my classroom and workshops, I publish my insights and findings through:

  • Open educational resources (OERs) designed to equip faculty with tools to foster high-quality, engaged learning

  • Articles, chapters, and reflections that demonstrate my commitment to innovation and pedagogical leadership in the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL).

Consulting, Coaching, and Facilitating

I regularly design and facilitate custom workshops for departments and units across IU, such as the School of Public Health and the School of Education, as well as for departments and units at other institutions, such as Winston-Salem State University and Queens University of Charlotte, delivering scalable learner-centered workshops that enhance teaching effectiveness, active learning, generative AI integration, and learner success.

Beyond higher ed, I bring a dynamic approach to consulting, coaching, and workshop facilitation, helping organizations achieve transformative communication outcomes. My expertise spans diverse industries and nonprofits, including offering one-on-one coaching services through Performance Learning Concepts, crafting cutting-edge online training modules for CareerBuilder, designing internship courses for Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), and developing strategic planning tools for the South Central Indiana Human Resources Association (SCIHRA). Additionally, I’ve collaborated on service-learning projects with Indiana-based TechPoint to advance Indiana's thriving tech ecosystem. With a proven track record of delivering tailored solutions, I am passionate about empowering organizations to achieve their strategic communication goals.
